Through careful arrangement and restraint, it could work within your sphere of sensibilties, maybe even encourage you to do something fresh and new. why not? It's just another technique to add to your vocabulary. In my music scene back during post-adolescence, I remember a guitarist express with disgust how he could never use tapping, the implication being he associated it with the bombast and cheese of 80s metal. ![]() which was a cool little invention, so why not? The most obvious and broadly recognizable example was what appears to be a straight lift of Unreal Tournament's translocator. ![]() I find it fascinating seeing all the influences: I'm pretty sure I saw some features taken straight from popular competitive shooters I rarely see mentioned on TTLG. ![]() That "Official Gameplay Deep Dive" trailer is just about the best job I've ever seen Arkane do in explaining and selling one of their games. Harvey Smith has expressed his love and admiration for Far Cry 2 a number of times over the years, so I wouldn't be surprised to see some significant influence from it. ![]()
